And now I only have one question, why on earth have not I read this before? Before he knew he was immortal. Before life was no longer fragile. Those were the days when life truly meant something. Book 2 review Dear Lord, from start to finish this was this was severely lacking in originality.
If you’ve just a handful of YA novels you could predict down to the last exclamation point everything that would happen. And I mean everything. We have the special snowflake He nodded s Awry: Gabriel flashed his dimples. From beginning to end she was just a presence that didn’t really add anything to the story unless you count being the reason of the triangle. So I guess there’s that. Then we have Greek God, the first I’m the Grim Reaper.
I drive around in my car full of weapons collecting souls. The complete opposite of Tristan in the worst ways possible. He’s selfish, overbearingly protective, and thinks of Scarlet as some meek, week, vulnerable girl who can’t walk into her backyard alone cause she might get lost. The contrast isn’t subtle in the least which just seems to detract points for credibility. That’s no his job, Scarlet.
Get with the program! And then we have Greek god, the second It’s moments, you know? Years aren’t what define us. You’re supposed to root for him, in case you haven’t gotten the memo. He’s the one that truly understands Scarlet and loves her with no conditions or obligations.
As for everyone else, they’re inconsequential so far. We have the missing parent, Laura, MIA having a life of her own somewhere; the fabulous best friend, Heather, who’s only there to make the special snowflake stand out more for being so humble and not caring about her physical appearance; and finally the get out of jail free card, Nate, who just screams “Bonnie” a character solely used for getting everyone out of trouble.
So despite being this predictable I’m on my merry way to the second book. It accomplished what it set out to do. In the end, I’m rooting for Tristan, I want Gabriel to find a happy ending somewhere else, and I was to curse to end.
What can I say? I’m easy to win over View all 7 comments. Dec 08, Brenna rated it really liked it Recommended to Brenna by: Charming, addictive story that completely stole my heart!
