The plot and characters are truly majestic and epic. To get the most out of this book, I think it’s best to start at the beginning of Invisible Chains and read the 4 books in order.

Although Anaxantis is still a central figure in this book, other characters come into focus and we get to learn more about the kingdom of Lorsanthia; Trachia, Rhonoma and other cities t I started reading this book as soon as I was finished with the first trilogy.
