I saw a reviewer refer to it as a “bodice-ripper” and I have ccanham say, I find that a little offensive. Good is moonnlit understatement this book was fantastic, amazing, educational weird I know but I learned more about boats and “privateering” than ever I love this book and feel this will be one that has set the bar in pirate romances for me.

For Marsha Canham to come out of retirement, is the answer. I will try several more books by this author before giving up. I loved that all. Isabeau wasn’t the swooning maiden, but rather a well-respected merchant sea-woman, skillful both at the helm of a ship and in drawing charts.
To throw it in with such a tawdry sub-genre is a disservice to all who have yet to discover such a gem. I wanted to read more about them!! I loved the setting, loved the secondary characters, and almost loved the main characters, too.

Once you begin this book, you can tell that she is very knowledgeable about this pirate area including the ships, land and culture. My favorite to read is when said “he” arrogant pirate meets his match with said “she” pirate.
I have an original paperback copy, but I just bought so that I can read it again on my computer, after several years, and savour it along with my morning coffee.
